Road crews from the Minnesota Department of Transportation are set to begin their second construction season in just a few short weeks.

If you’re traveling on Interstate 94 between Saint Paul and Maplewood, you’ll encounter major traffic changes on the interstate while the project work is going on.

Officials say motorists should expect lane restrictions in both directions, traffic delays, and temporary exit/entrance ramp closures.

  • Resurface eastbound and westbound I-94 between Mounds Blvd. to east of Highway 120/Century Ave.
  • Build a new auxiliary lane and extend the existing auxiliary lane along eastbound I-94 between the exit to East 7th St. and the entrance from Mounds Blvd.
  • Construct two emergency pull-off sites along eastbound I-94 between the exit to East 7th S. and the entrance from Mounds Blvd.
  • Resurface Highway 61 from north of Burns Ave. to Highway 5
  • Create trail connections at McKnight Rd. and Century Ave.
  • Update signals and pedestrian access
  • Build a new noise wall and replace part of an existing noise wall between Conway St. and Maple St. Repair Bridges
  • Repair bridges
