Interstate 694 Sinkhole: Expect Delays, Detours This Week
Oakdale city officials are urging residents and businesses to conserve water after a pipe busted early Sunday.
WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — Northbound Interstate 694 between Interstate 94 in Woodbury and Highway 36 in Oakdale remains closed after a water main break created a large sinkhole just north of the 15th Street North in Oakdale early Sunday. Transit officials said I-694 will remain closed in this area "until further notice."
Drivers should plan for longer commute times during the closure.

- Northbound traffic should detour heading west on I-94, north to 35E
- Southbound traffic should take Highway 36 west to I-35E and head south to I-94
A transit spokesperson told the Star Tribune I-694 closures could last "for days." An investigation is underway into the cause of the water main break. The driving surface of the roadway was not affected.
Oakdale city officials are urging all residents to conserve water. Businesses and restaurants may use water for health and safety reasons, but are asked to continue to conserve when possible.
