Hudson Daughter, 10, Father Die Swimming In Lake Superior

A 10-year-old Hudson, Wisconsin girl and her father died Thursday after swimming in Lake Superior, authorities said.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MN — A 10-year-old Hudson, Wisconsin girl and her 38-year-old father died Thursday after swimming in at Park Point Recreation Center in Lake Superior. On Aug. 10 at about 4:20 p.m., the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to a water emergency at the Park Point Recreation Center.

The caller reported an adult male and his juvenile daughter were swimming in that location and were in distress. Shortly thereafter the swimmers could not be located in the high waves, authorities said.

At about 5:15 p.m. the juvenile female was pulled from the water and transported by Goldcross Ambulance to Essentia St. Mary's in Duluth, according to a news release. The adult male was later located by first responders.

Unfortunately, the two victims were deceased. The father has been identified as Ryan Paul Fuglie, 38. The daughter was identified as Lily Elizabeth Fuglie, 10.
