Lights Out: Ponies Edge Woodbury 27-20

After a delay due to a power failure, the Royals couldn't muster enough to overtake the Ponies.

Stillwater defeated the Woodbury 27-20 in the teams' Suburban East football opener on Friday night in Stillwater.

The Ponies and Royals traded touchdowns in the first quarter before Stillwater slowly pulled away for the win.

Woodbury was down just 21-20 with only a few minutes to play when Stillwater quarterback Nate Ricci connected on a touchdown pass with with wide reciever Josh Weess.

The play gave the Ponies a seven-point lead and all but secured the win.

The game was delayed for about 20 minutes with 1:50 to play in the game when the lights at Pony Stadium shut off.

The Royals host Suburban East Conference foe Hastings next Friday night at 7 p.m.
