London born singer-songwriter Rupert Wates came to the US in 2006. Since then he has received close to thirty songwriting awards (listed on AWARDS page at www.rupertwatesmusic.com). He has also recorded four CDS: ‘Coast To Coast’ (2007), ‘Dear Life’ (2008), ‘Joe’s Cafe’ (2010) and ‘At The Losers’ Motel (2012). All have received outstanding reviews in the online press and have been played on radio stations in America, Canada, The Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Israel and Australia. Folk And Acoustic Music Exchange has called him ‘a prime figure in American music’, and ‘a new and unique songwriter-musician already in the front ranks’ (www.acousticmusic.com).
Wates has appeared regularly on radio and TV, and plays over 150 live shows a year in venues all over America. He prefers smaller, more intimate spaces, where the audience is up close and personal, and where musicianship and real emotion can’t be faked. This is why the house concert environment suits him best of all - as the many comments listed above from previous hosts will attest.
