Majority of Minnesotans Polled Say Donald Trump Unfit to Be President Because of Lewd Comments

The poll also found nearly 60 percent of respondents believe Donald Trump has probably made unwanted sexual advances toward several women.

A new poll finds that a majority of Minnesota voters believe GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump is unfit to serve as president because of lewd sexual comments he made, describing in graphically vulgar terms about how he tried to have sex with a married woman and how stardom affords him the privilege to kiss, grope and have sex with women whenever he pleases.

The comments were made by Trump in a video that was leaked earlier this month. On the recording, Trump is speaking with "Access Hollywood" host Billy Bush before visiting the set of "Days of Our Lives," where Trump was making a guest appearance. The conversation occurred in 2005, shortly into his marriage with his current wife, Melania.

According to a Star Tribune Minnesota Poll, 55 percent of likely voters say the comments captured on video disqualify Trump from being president.

The poll found a significant 15 point gap between how men and women answered the question. Among women voters, 62 percent said Trump is unfit to be president because of his comments, while less than half of male voters, 47 percent, said Trump is not fit because of his remarks.

The gender divide is reflected in the national polls as well, which show Trump trailing Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton the most among female voters.

Several former and current Minnesota Republicans revoked their support for Trump after the video was leaked, including former Republican Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who said in a statement that, "Although I'd hoped he could have risen to the occasion, it's clear Trump is unwilling or unable to demonstrate even the most basic level of discipline, character and judgment necessary to lead our great nation."

"He is unsound, uninformed, unhinged and unfit to be President of the United States, and I am withdrawing my support for him."
