Man Sentenced For Sex Trafficking Woman At Woodbury Hotel

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MN — Washington County Attorney Pete Orput Friday announced that Tyree Erik Jones, 23, of Brooklyn Park was sentenced to prison for the sex trafficking of a woman in Woodbury. Washington County District Judge Richard C. Ilkka sentenced Jones to 96 months in prison following his earlier guilty plea.

The case was prosecuted by Imran S. Ali, an assistant Washington County Attorney. According to the criminal complaint filed in the case, Woodbury Police Department and the Washington County Attorney’s Major Prosecution/Human Trafficking Unit conducted an undercover operation and arranged for the undercover officer to meet a woman at a hotel in Woodbury for the purpose of engaging in sex in return for $300.

The officer met the woman at the hotel and she and another woman told the officer that Jones was their “pimp” and that Jones would place ads on Backpage.com, drive them to the location, and after the sexual liaison was completed, take all the money they received in return for sex. Both indicated that was the reason for their presence that day at the hotel. Jones was seen at this hotel at the same time as the officer met the woman at the door.

Orput stated, "This office will continue to go after sex traffickers until, hopefully, they realize that Washington County is no longer safe for them to do business here."
