Man Tried To Hire Teen For Sexual Contact In Woodbury: Police

The 20-year-old Shakopee man responded to an online ad and was later arrested at a Woodbury apartment complex, police said.

WOODBURY, MN — A Shakopee man is accused of trying to hire a 15-year-old for oral sex in Woodbury. Koushik Mamidala, 20, faces 10 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, on Jan. 27, police posted an advertisement on Backpage.com under the "women seeking men" section. An officer later received a text saying, "hi are you available."

The officer responded, "hey baby – very available." The suspect texted, "sweet! Where you located?"

The officer said, "in woodbury...$50hh $100hr. My parents are in Mexico for the week."

The suspect texted, "you give BJ's too?" The officer responded yes, "no condom."

After additional communication, the suspect texted, "you said you are 15, are you?" The officer texted, "yeah, Im 15."

The officer provided the address to a Woodbury apartment complex.

Later that day, Mamidala came to the apartment and knocked on the door, the complaint states. Officers arrested him and found $132 in cash, police said.

Mamidala then told officers he responded to an advertisement on backpage.com and came to the address to meet with a 15-year-old for oral sex, possibly more, according to investigators.
