​Maplewood To Host Special Meeting On Nightclub Shooting

Police say more than 50 shots were fired outside a Maplewood nightclub after a dispute inside led to a man being shot in the leg.

Maplewood's mayor, Nora Slawik, has called for a special meeting to discuss a shooting incident that occurred at a local nightclub. Police say more than 50 shots were fired outside the Stargate nightclub after a dispute inside led to a man being shot in the leg.

Five people in total were wounded in the shooting, according to authorities.

The meeting will also be used to consider possible sanctions and new conditions.

The special meeting of the Maplewood City Council will occur on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 8 a.m. at Maplewood City Hall, 1830 County Road B East, Maplewood, MN 55109.

The shooting

At 1:30 a.m. Saturday, officers from the Maplewood, Saint Paul, and Roseville Police Departments, as well as the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office and Minnesota State Patrol responded to a report of shots fired outside the Stargate nightclub.

Police ordered an emergency closure of Stargate Saturday. Investigators have been focused on determining the identities of the shooters, according to a news release.
