Maplewood Man Had Unregistered Pipe Bomb: Feds

Dylan Raymond Orr​, 28, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of possession of an unregistered destructive device.

MAPLEWOOD, MN — A Maplewood man admitted in federal court to illegal possession of a pipe bomb, U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger announced Wednesday.

A sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled.

Investigators discovered photos of two pipe bombs that were sent from Orr’s phone to a third party, according to authorities.

On April 28, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Orr's residence and found two six-inch pipes, investigators said.

One pipe had BBs affixed, four end caps, and explosive powder, which are components that could be easily converted into a bomb, according to authorities.

The items were not registered with National Firearms Registration, as is required by law, investigators said.
