Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. A 48-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing Century Avenue (Highway 120) just north of Interstate 94 Thursday morning, according to the <a href="https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/msp" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Minnesota State Patrol</a>. Stephen S. Tague, of St. Paul, was fatally hit at about 6:43 a.m. at Innovation Boulevard. Century Avenue between Hudson Road and Fourth Street was closed down due to the accident; it has since been reopened. The driver was Grant A. Melby, 45, of Maplewood, in a Saturn Vue, according to the State Patrol. State Patrol officers are doing a preliminary investigation and accident reconstruction.
