Photos: Woodbury Runs At The Roy Griak Invitational

Royals boys and girls cross-country teams compete on a picturesque Saturday afternoon.

It was a perfect day for a run and the cross-country teams made the most of it by competing in the Roy Griak Invitational on the University of Minnesota's Les Bolstad Golf Course on Saturday afternoon.

The Royals girls took 33rd, while the boys claimed 38th in their respective five-kilometer runs, competing in the Gold Division—the top rung of high school competition at the multi-state meet.

Darby Baranick led the Woodbury girls with a 50th-place finish in a time of 20:03.8, with Lauren Smith taking 92nd in 20:36.0.

Also contibuting to the Royals' team placement were: Divya Melachuri (21:24.0) in 176th, Catherine Henning (21:50.2) in 230th and Alexus Baumgartner (22:13.2) in 276th.

Among the 410 runners to complete the course were Royals runners Caroline Joyce (23:36.2) in 355th, Maddie Collins (23:51.2) in 365th, Erika Storvick (24:08.6) in 377th and Valeriya Kolyadenko (25:28.2) in 396th.

For the boys, Taylor Voit led the way with a 104th-place run of 17:16.19, with Sam Evans taking 189th in 17:44.89.

Nathan Orf (17:56.84) in 231st, Nicholas Wareham (18:09.69) in 275th and Luke Wittman (18:11.94) in 286th all contributed to the Woodbury team scoring on the day.

In with the 471 finishers were Woodbury runners Tom Young (19:25.44) in 423rd, Paul Henning (19:27.44) in 423rd, Tyler Jordahl (19:33.04) in 430th, Nate Wareham (19:46.79) in 443rd and Jeremy Storvick (20:17.39) in 456th.
