Police Blotter: Pee Pic Problems, Hunger Games, Body Wash Attack

Selected calls to the Woodbury Police Department from May 11-15.

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

May 11

Police were called after someone apparently tried to steal two landscape lights, valued at $250 apiece, from the Wedgewood development sign. Two spotlights were ripped from the ground but left in the area.

Officers told a man who was yelling at a woman in the parking lot at to calm down. Other parents had asked him to stop and he became verbally abusive toward them as well. The report says the man “now has a very clear understanding of proper behavior in/near an elementary school and young children.”

Employees at contacted police after a woman called three times in a 15-minute period and said she had a gun and was coming to the store. Police found that the number was from a Michigan landline, but they stood at the door for half an hour monitoring customers.

An employee at used her arm to block a bottle of body wash thrown at her by an unruly customer. The customer was trying to return some items, but the employee thought it may have been part of a scam. The customer became upset when the employee was writing down information from her driver’s license and attempted to rip the paper away from the employee. The Wisconsin woman then threw the bottle of body wash; the employee had a welt on her arm.

May 12

A Zumbrota woman called police after she thought some items at a garage sale the 1800 block of Saint Johns Drive were stolen. Some clothing still had tags and beauty products were still in their packaging.

Someone stole food bags left at mailboxes for a food drive. The “Stamp Out Hunger” bags were taken from the 3800 block of Featherstone Drive.

A home and vehicle at the 2500 block of Windsor Lane were egged.

A cell phone was stolen during a garage sale at the 8400 block of Marsh Creek Road.

A resident called police after someone apparently tried to get into her car’s gas tank while it was parked at .

A drunken man at the 2200 block of Amberwood Drive who called police after he misplaced his wallet later declined assistance.

An apparently drunken man with a bottle of gin in his hand came to a home at the 10700 block of Sterling Alcove. He learned he had the wrong house and got into his car and drove down the block, made a U-turn, parked in front of the home again and went into the house next door.

Police learned that there was no abduction after someone called 911 following a suspicious incident at Walmart. The caller told police she heard a child yelling “I want my mommy” while being pushed into a car. The mother told police that child was screaming: “I want my froggy.”

May 13

An Apple Valley resident called police to report that her vehicle had been stolen. Police found it a short distance away at the 6800 block of Thames Road. It was locked with no signs of forced entry.

May 14

Two credit card skimmers were found on gas pumps at the Norma Lane . St. Paul police were investigating similar incidents and notified Woodbury authorities of the skimmers found here.

An iPhone was stolen from a woman shopping at . She told police she believed the phone was stolen from a diaper bag that was under a stroller her daughter was pushing.

Police were called about a man who seemed confused or drunk walking into the woods near the 8400 block of Marsh Creek Road. Officers were unable to locate the man.

A resident at the 1800 block of Windjammer Drive called police after she heard a gunshot in the area. Police did not find anything suspicious.

A resident at the 7300 block of Steepleview Road called police and said a neighbor came into his backyard and urinated on the lawn. “To my surprise, this was not what had upset (the man),” reads the police report. Instead, resident was upset because some neighbors came outside and took pictures of the man while he was urinating. The resident told police he made sure the urinating man got home safely. He told police he didn’t know the names of the neighbors but said they lived behind him. Officers advised the man to call back if he has future issues with the neighbors

May 15

Police were called after juveniles were seen tipping over garbage cans in the area of the 1100 block of Sunset Bay.

A St. Paul woman’s car was blocking a lane near the intersection of Weir Drive and Valley Creek Road; the vehicle was leaking gas. The Woodbury Fire Department was called, but the vehicle stopped leaking and a tow company provided a compound to dry out the roadway.

A man at the 1700 block of Kerry Lane called police after he suspected his mail was stolen. He didn’t get anything that day and usually at least gets some junk mail.
