Portillo's Woodbury Announces Opening Date

Chicago-based Portillo's has announced the opening date for its 9,000 square feet location in Woodbury, Minnesota.

WOODBURY, MN — Portillo's has announced the opening date for its 9,000 square feet location in Woodbury. The popular Chicago-based hotdog joint will open its first Minnesota store at 10:30 a.m. July 11, the Woodbury Bulletin reported. The location will feature 1920s Prohibition-era décor that will include photos of Chicago-based gangsters, such as Al Capone.

The restaurant location, which is being built by Novak Construction, has precast structures with full brick exterior, patio and architectural steel elements, according to a news release. A Portillo's location in Maple Grove received approval last month.

Background

Portillo’s, a popular drive-in selling Italian beef sandwiches, Chicago-style hot dogs, hamburgers, and salads, is known for its old-school style of taking orders — which are written in pencil on a white paper bag.
