Review Woodbury's Lawn Watering Policy

Woodbury city officials want residents to remember that just because it's "your day" to water, doesn't mean you need to.

WOODBURY, MN — When it comes to lawn watering, your grass only needs one inch of water per week, according to Woodbury city officials. The recent hot, dry summer weather has been perfect for grilling but can be bad for our aquifers. Officials want residents to remember that just because it's "your day" to water, doesn't mean you need to.

"Grass only needs one inch of water per week to stay healthy," the city said. "Skipping a watering day promotes growth of deeper roots, which reduces how much water your lawn will need in the future."

Following the lawn watering policy

The city's lawn watering policy is based on an odd/even schedule. This means if your home or business address ends in an odd number (1, 3, 5, etc.) you may water your lawn on odd-numbered calendar days each month.

Likewise, if your address ends in an even number (0, 2, 4, etc.) you may sprinkle on even-numbered days of the month. Lawn sprinkling is not permitted between noon and 5 p.m. regardless of whether it is "your day" to water.
