Snapshot: Checking In With The Woodbury Veterans Memorial

The Veterans Memorial Committee recently received a $5,000 check from two companies for its upcoming golf tournament.

Local American Legion and VFW representatives, along with members of the Veterans Memorial Committee, recently accepted a $5,000 check from the platinum and gold sponsors of the upcoming , which will be held in honor of late Woodbury resident Dick Stafford.

Stafford—an integral member of the Washington County community as a former commissioner for 12 years and a county auditor and treasurer for decades—died Feb. 24 at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul during heart surgery. He was 81.

Bruce Nettleton, vice chair of the Woodbury Veterans Memorial Council, said the tournament will start at 1 p.m. on Aug. 15, and the cost to participate is $110. People can still sign up—click here.

The platinum sponsor is Woodbury Financial Services, which donated $3,000; McGough Construction is the gold sponsor, and donated $2,000.

Proceeds from the event will help pay for the Woodbury Lions Veteran’s Memorial, located at campus.
