South Washington County Schools continues to respond to the latest guidance regarding the prevention of COVID-19 from spreading in our communities.

As of noon on Friday, March 13, both the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) are not recommending school closures. MDH reports that there have been no cases of COVID-19 in staff or students at any school district in the state.
We are, however, taking steps to limit crowds or other large gatherings in our schools. The following activities are canceled for the next week:

Cancellations Friday, March 13 through Saturday, March 21.
- Plays
- Concerts
- Large district events
- School assemblies
- Large group fundraisers
- Large meetings
- Rental agreements held by outside organizations for meetings and activities in a District 833 building
Cancellations for 30 Days (through April 12)
- All local, domestic and international field trips
If school is scheduled to be in session, the following activities will continue as usual.
- Academic support for students
- Staff and teacher-led clubs
- Youth enrichment activities
- Adult Basic Education
- Community Education
- Kids Club
- Staff professional development
Athletics
- Cancellations for games and tournaments are determined on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), other school districts and athletic directors. MSHSL has already canceled several competitions. If you have questions, please contact your athletic director.
As you know, the circumstances surrounding COVID-19 are changing rapidly with new information and recommendations being released hourly. You may see more frequent updates depending on the urgency of the latest recommendations from the Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Department of Education.
