Suspect In Custody After Stabbing Maplewood Officer

A suspect is in custody after stabbing a Maplewood officer Tuesday.

MAPLEWOOD, MN — A Maplewood police officer was stabbed Tuesday morning while responding to a report of a disorderly person at a CVS on White Bear Avenue, and a suspect is now in custody, according to police.

Officers were called to the store at the intersection of County Road B East and White Bear Avenue around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, after a report of a possible theft, Maplewood police said.

When an officer made contact with the suspect, the suspect attacked him with a knife.

The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated at the scene by EMS and taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

The suspect was taken into custody at the scene.

The stabbing remains under active investigation. Maplewood police said they will release additional information as it becomes available.
