Tax-Forfeited Lots In Woodbury Coming Up For Sale

Nearly 30 lots in the Highland Knoll subdivision will be auctioned off together on March 21; the minimum bid is $1.568 million.

Twenty-eight tax-forfeited lots in Woodbury will come up for sale at a March 21 auction.

The Highland Knoll parcels were lost by the developer to foreclosure and the land eventually went into tax forfeiture, said Eric Searles, Woodbury associate planner.

The lots are generally located north of Oak View Drive, west of Cottage Grove Drive and south of the Eagle Valley Development, according to the city’s website.

Searles said they are the only such lots in similar situations this year. There is one home built on the subdivision, he said, but it is not part of the upcoming auction.

The Washington County Board of Commissioners approved the sale—along with two parcels in Cottage Grove—at its Feb. 21 meeting. The county will conduct a public auction at 1 p.m. on March 21 in Conference Room LL14 in the Washington County Government Center in Stillwater.

The Highland Knoll subdivision platted lots will be offered as a single group, with the minimum bid starting at $1.568 million. The county board's Finance Committee recommended the minimum sale price.

Woodbury will recoup from the sale special assessments levied against the property, Searles said.
