Woodbury Baseball: Losing Streak Hits 14 Games For Royals

Defeats of 5-1 and 6-1 to Cretin-Derham Hall and Roseville on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, increased the baseball team's losing streak to 14 games heading into a regular-season finale at White Bear Lake on Friday.

The Royals' last victory came against Suburban East Conference leader Forest Lake on April 18. Since that point, Woodbury has dropped to 3-16 overall and 3-14 in conference play.

Ryan Fritze leads the offense with a .438 batting average, 11 runs scored and 20 RBIs and is also pacing the pitching staff with a 2.50 earned run average, two wins and 19 strikeouts.

Woodbury/East Ridge Girls Lacrosse: Roseville 17, Griffins 10

The Woodbury/East Ridge girls lacrosse team closed out its regular season with a 17-10 loss to visiting conference rival Roseville to drop to 5-7 heading into the playoffs.

Individual statistics were not made available. The Griffins now await their seed and first-round opponent for the Section 5 playoffs that are scheduled to begin on May 25.

East Ridge Baseball: Forest Lake 7, Raptors 3

The baseball team lost to Suburban East-leading Forest Lake 7-3 on Wednesday to head into a regular season-ending home game versus Stillwater on Friday with a 12-7 overall record and a 10-7 conference mark.

Pitcher Mark Landgrebe took the loss for the Raptors, with Ryan Betz pacing the East Ridge offense with a home run and two RBIs on a 2-for-4 day at the plate.

East Ridge/Park Boys Lacrosse: SWC 11, Minneapolis 6

An 11-6 defeat of Minneapolis boosted the East Ridge/Park boys lacrosse team to 6-6 on the season heading into a regular season-concluding game at Maple Grove on Friday.

As of the last statistical update, Brexton Turner leads the south Washington County co-op team with 16 goals, with Jacob Matenaer logging 12 goals and both David Ferguson and Tyler Warhol chipping in 10 goals apiece.

New Life Softball: Eagles 10, St. Agnes 0

softball pitcher Rebekah Schmidt threw a no-hitter to lead the Eagles to a 10-0 victory over St. Agnes in the Section 4A quarterfinals. Schmidt struck out nine Aggies, while also homering herself.

Next up for New Life is a sectional semifinal agianst fifth-seeded Minneapolis Washburn at 4 p.m. next Tuesday at the .

Woodbury Boys Tennis: Royals 4, Bloomington Jefferson 3

The third-seeded Woodbury boys tennis team defeated Bloomington Jefferson 4-3 in the Section 3AA quarterfinals on Thursday. Individual statistics were not made available. The Royals are scheduled to play at No. 2 seed Eagan in the semifinals.

Woodbury And East Ridge Boys Golf: Raptors Second, Royals Seventh At Highland National

The East Ridge boys golf team carded a 307 to finish second while Woodbury took seventh with a 313 at a Suburban East meet at Highland National Golf Club in St. Paul on Thursday. Individual results were not made available.

New Life Baseball: Mounds Park 3, Eagles 0

The New Life Academy baseball team lost 3-0 at Mounds Park Academy on Thursday to fall to 6-8 overall. Individual statistics were not made available. 

The Eagles are scheduled to play at St. Paul Johnson on Saturday at noon.

Results from a track and field meet involving the Woodbury boys and girls teams on Thursday were not available.
