Gopher athletes shared their experiences participating in their individual sports at the collegiate level and why they chose the U of M.

On Friday, Jan. 27, five athletes from the University of Minnesota visited a fifth grade assembly at Middleton Elementary School. The Gopher athletes shared their experiences participating in their individual sports at the collegiate level and why they chose the U of M.

They stressed the importance of maintaining a balance between academics and sports, and how they manage their schedules. The speakers also spoke about some of the difficulties they have had as athletes and how they were able to overcome them.

Students had several questions for the visitors, including where they grew up, how long they have been involved with sports, who they look up to and many more, according to a news release from the district.
