Video: Pizza From Japan
A different take on a classic in this week's installment of a regional feature.
Satay 2 Go, a small family restaurant in Apple Valley, is the only place in Minnesota where you can eat authentic "okonomiyaki."
Otherwise known as "Japanese pizza," this dish is a delicious variation on the more common Italian pie. Combined with egg, udon noodles and seaweed, the pizza is served with a choice of various meat fillings such as shrimp or beef. The key to the food is a generous serving of okonomiyaki sauce topped with Japanese mayonnaise.
Corinne Tan, owner and chef at Satay 2 Go, said there are two versions of okonomiyaki, one from Hiroshima and one from Osaka. Her version is based on a recipe from Hiroshima, which she learned from a friend who served the pizza in Japan.

When served in Japan, the pizza is usually topped with crispy fish skins, but Tan said most Minnesotans are not quite ready for that garnish, so she serves it with seaweed.
