Woman With Young Children Charged With Theft At Woodbury Kohl's

A woman has been charged with felony theft at the Kohl's location in Woodbury. Police say she was with her children during the incident.

A 31-year-old woman has been charged with felony theft at Kohl's in Woodbury. A Kohl's official told police he saw the suspect, later identified Kira Milany Romero Pinto, attempt to steal items worth more than $1357 in total while she was with her three young children.

Police say on Oct. 21, 2016, Pinto was seen entering the greeting card aisle. A Kohl's official told police Pinto tossed a sales tag on the floor before ripping the tags off three girls dresses and placing the dresses in a shopping cart.

With Pinto were two young boys and a young girl.

Pinto, with her children following, then entered the home department area where she selected a set of cookware and put it in her cart, according to the criminal complaint. Pinto then allegedly peeled off the price code and price tag from the box before selecting two vacuum cleaners and put them in the cart, which the boy was pushing.

Police say Pinto then selected other household items and peeled the price tags off of them as well before she was seen approaching the door. She and the children then exited the store without paying for the items, the criminal complaint alleges.

A Kohl's employee then confronted her. She was taken to the loss prevention officer and another adult was called to pick up the children.

With the assistance of a Spanish speaking employee interpreting, police say Pinto admitted that she had taken the items without paying for them. Authorities say in her possession were a fake social security card, a fake Minnesota ID, and two credit cards listed to an alias.
