Woodbury Advances Pair of Wrestlers to State Event
Herold-Plakut and Donnelly were to compete at 10 a.m. in the consolation quarterfinals today, March 5.
wrestlers Justin Herold-Plakut and Ben Donnelly each remain alive in the Class AAA state wrestling tournament after Friday’s matches at the Xcel Energy Center.
Herold-Plakut opened up the individual tournament with a win over Buffalo’s Cedric Jimenez before losing to St. Michael-Albertville’s Cole Sladek in the quarterfinals. He rebounded by winning his first wrestlebacks matchup against Maple Groves’ Joey Neumann 5-2.
Donnelly defeated Bloomington Jefferson’s Hugo Felix 8-0 before losing to Apple Valley’s Mark Hall in the quarterfinals. He rebounded by beating Champlin Park’s Bobby Jackson by fall in his first wrestleback match.

Both will compete in the consolation quarterfinals on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul.
East Ridge’s Nick Bachmann had one match Friday. He was eliminated after losing to Lakeville South’s Eric Hensel in the first round.
