During this curfew, no persons may travel on any public street or in any public place unless required to do so for work.

The curfew is needed to help protect Woodbury’s retail areas, public buildings and households from potential civil unrest events that have occurred in Woodbury and other nearby Twin Cities communities. It also allows our Public Safety officers to utilize all the tools necessary to keep our residents safe and protect our community.

“Our number one concern is protecting our residents and businesses,” said Mayor Anne Burt. “This action helps us even though much of the aggression and lawlessness that is being experienced in the Twin Cities is coming from outside sources, not people of our great state of Minnesota.”

The curfew is consistent with actions being taken by other Twin Cities suburbs and surrounding communities.

“I ask for the public’s cooperation and understanding,” Burt added. “Plan to stay safely at home tonight with your families and loved ones. Be well and be safe. We will get through this together.”

All law enforcement, fire and medical personnel, as well as other personnel authorized by the City of Woodbury, Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Minnesota State Patrol or Minnesota National Guard, are exempt from the curfew. Individuals seeking emergency care or fleeing dangerous circumstances are also exempt.
