Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. Small class sizes at WLA allow for teachers and staff to provide personalized instruction, build strong relationships, and increase student engagement. The Woodbury girls golf team finished the first day of the Class AAA state tournament in seventh place overall on Tuesday at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids. The Royals finished with a score of 378, while Wayzata leads the standings with a team total of 331. Day 2 tees off at 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday. Woodbury was led by senior Mary Sweeney, who finished the day tied for second overall with a 74. She and Cretin-Derham Hall's Grace Todora are three shots off the pace. Sophomore Katie Moore is tied for 76th with a 98, junior Kari Johnson is in 80th place with a 101, Natalya Thakur and Rachel Letsche are tied for 83rd with a 105 and Maggie Sweeney is in 85th with a 107.
