Woodbury High School Teacher, Thomas (Thom) Patzold, Senior Aerospace Studies Instructor for Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) was chosen as the Air Force Association’s Minnesota Teacher of the Year.

The Air Force Association’s Teacher of the Year program recognizes STEM-oriented classroom innovations and initiatives at the local, state and national levels.
“Thomas is one of the premier high school Air Force JROTC instructors in the state of Minnesota. His efforts have created a program with community connections with a strong STEM focus,” said retired Air Force Colonel Roman Hund, President of E W Rawlings Chapter of the Air Force Association.

“He (Thom) has created a dynamic and supportive learning environment coupled with excellent community outreach. This helps students engage and learn critical thinking, leadership and communication skills. His program has been successful in elevating students to colleges and service academies over many years,” said Woodbury High School Principal, Sarah Sorenson-Wagner.
