Woodbury Neighbor Saves Family Of 5 From House Fire

The man awoke to the smell of his neighbor's home burning and took action.

WOODBURY, MN — Authorities say a Woodbury man helped save a family of five from a house fire on the 1600 block of Lamplight Drive early Tuesday. Just before 1:30 a.m. the man woke up to the smell of what he believed to be burning shingles.

He looked out the window and saw the front of his neighbor's home engulfed in flames. He ran down the street and was able to wake the family in their home.

Police say all five members of the family escaped safely.

It appears the fire started in the garage and spread to the home, according to authorities. The cause is unknown at this time.
