Woodbury PD Blotter: Sit-in at Sally’s, Man Chases Burglars, Electricity Theft

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

A officer noticed some suspicious activity at the parking lot and believed a drug deal had gone down. The officer stopped one of the vehicles and found an empty jar with green residue inside and a digital scale.

Someone placed several traffic signs and other items in a yard at the 11000 block of Dogwood Road.

Police were called about a few ding-dong-ditch incidents in the area of the 3800 block of Featherstone Circle.

Police were able to extinguish a small fire in a garage at the 2000 block of Vining Drive. The garage is attached to an unoccupied rental unit and witness told police they saw people smoking inside and later run from the scene.

About $40 worth of beer and $10 in change was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at the 6100 block of Linden Road. The truck was unlocked.

An Escalade parked in a driveway at the 7300 block of Steepleview Road was reported damaged: dented, paint chipped and a side rail broken off.

Residents in the neighborhood of the 8400 block of Savanna Oaks Lane reported hearing a loud boom, possibly a gunshot. Police checked the area but couldn’t locate the noise’s origin.

A home at the 3500 block of Fairfax Lane was toilet-papered and yard furniture was thrown onto the winter pool cover.

A home at the 10600 block of Glen Eagle Road was egged.

A Ford F-150 was reported stolen at the 600 block of Mariner Way.

Police were called about a street fight involving several people at the 10900 block of Eagle View Place. Officers detained a few individuals, all of whom had minor injuries. Some of those involved said one man spat on another, sparking the melee. Others joined in, including girlfriends. Two people were taken to jail and another to detox.

A resident at the 3500 block of Oxford Drive was trying to trap a fox and instead got a raccoon. The animal was healthy and police told the man to contact a professional to release the animal. He was also informed that he was in violation of city code and was given a verbal warning.

A Newport resident who was at lost a checkbook with a debit card and driver’s license inside it. The items were returned with no known losses.

A resident called police to say she was waiting at the signal at Valley Creek Road and County 19 for five minutes but the light wasn’t changing. Officers arrived and found that the light was working normally.

A resident at the 8600 block of Hudson Bay chased two people out of his home following a break-in. The two men fled into a waiting Ford Explorer. Missing from the home and garage were a purse, power tools and garage-door opener. Police were able to get prints from the scene.

A home at the 1000 block of Autumn Alcove was burglarized; less than $15 in change was stolen from a vehicle in the garage, along with a Best Buy ID card.

Employees at contacted police after learning that on four occasions—between Nov. 14, 2011, and Jan. 16—someone procured about 1,200 pills of Ultram using a phony prescription.

A home at the 700 block of Martha Lane was broken into and prescriptions and jewelry were reported stolen. A basement window was broken in the incident.

The daughter of the owners of a home at the 7500 block of Ojibway Park Court called police after noticing a spike in the home’s electric bill. (The owners live in an assisted-living complex.) She and her father went through the home and found a cord plugged into the back of the house. Police canvassed the area and learned that a snow-plowing company was using the outlet, thinking it was a general plug and not associated with an individual property. Officials with the company said they would work with the homeowners to pay the extra costs for the electricity.

A Woodbury resident decided to engage in a one-woman sit-in after employees at Sally’s Beauty Supply refused to credit her account on an item she was trying to return. When police arrived she was sitting on the floor in an aisle, refusing to leave. She had been sitting there 30 minutes, and told officers she felt she was treated with disrespect. After some convincing, the woman agreed to leave and was given the number for the store’s corporate office.
