Woodbury PD Blotter: Squirrel Burglar, Lego Larceny, Trash Tossing

The following information was obtained from recent police reports.

A home at the 1700 block of Colby Lake Drive was burglarized after thieves entered through an open garage door. A GPS unit was taken from a vehicle in the garage and two wallets were stolen from the inside of the home.

A known shoplifter seen stealing items from was trespassed from the store, though employees did not want to press charges against the woman for taking a hole puncher and stamp set.

A resident at the 700 block of Markgrafs Lake Draw told police of a phone call she received from a man claiming to be her grandson; he said he was in Bolivia and needed money wired. She told police of the incident for informational purposes.

Police pulled over a man for not signaling a turn and found that he had a nationwide extradite warrant out of his arrest for child neglect. He was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail.

A resident called police about a road rage incident near Radio and Tower drives. A woman honked at the car ahead of her after he did not drive forward when a light turned green. He slowly crept forward, and when she went to pass him he gave her the finger and threw a water bottle at her car. He continued to throw garbage at her and flash his middle finger.

A garage fire at the 2200 block of Cypress Drive was not suspicious in nature. . No one was hurt.

A resident at the 11000 block of Cresthaven Trail put her oven on the “clean” mode but forgot she had left a pot in it. There was smoke and some flames and the Woodbury Fire Department assisted.

Police were called about a possible burglary at the 2200 block of Cameron Drive. The resident had been out of town and noticed things amiss. It was determined that a gray squired had entered the home through the chimney and damaged windows trying to get out. The squirrel was found and removed unharmed.

Police responded after a resident in an apartment at the 1500 block of Parkwood Drive was smoking marijuana.

Employees at called police after a woman was seen taking Legos from one box and putting them in other Lego box. She then paid for that box of Legos and left the store. Workers got her license plate number and police stopped her on her way home. She eventually admitted the theft.

A driver involved in a one-car rollover crash was cited for careless driving. The motorist had minor cuts and bruises and registered a 0.05 on a preliminary breath test.

A utility box at the 1100 block of Scarborough Lane had “avnon” spray-painted on it.

After getting reports of a possible drunken driver near Interstate 494 and Valley Creek Road, police found that an Oakdale man was simply tired. He was issued a warning for fatigued driving.

A resident at the 10600 block of Maple Boulevard initially called police to report that front-porch furniture had been stolen from the home. The furniture was later found neatly stacked against the side of the garage and the homeowner figured it was a prank.

The front passenger-side window of a vehicle parked at the was broken and several items were stolen.

A resident at the 7300 block of Steepleview Road called police after a man showed up at his home unannounced, upset about issues more than 20 years old. The man reportedly tore the screen from the front door, alluded to getting a gun from Chicago to “take out” the homeowner and said he would break the resident’s good leg. The homeowner requested extra patrols.

A woman at the 2100 block of Vermillion Bay called to ask if the department had any plainclothes officers working in the area. She had twice been approached by a man claiming to be a police officer doing surveillance in the neighborhood. Officers told her other agencies sometimes work in Woodbury without their knowledge, but she should call back if she sees anything suspicious.

A new home under construction at the 11000 block of Sweetwater Path had several items taken from it, including drywall mudding compound and tape. The total value of the items taken was estimated at $800 to $1,000.

A bicycle helmet and elbow and kneepads in boxes outside of a home at the 2400 block of Eagle Trace Lane were reported stolen. The resident had left them outside to be picked up by UPS.

A resident at the 10100 block of City Walk Drive called police after noticing boxes stacked from the floor to the ceiling in another unit and found it odd. Police learned the man was moving out.

A resident at the 3500 block of Dakota Avenue called police after a letter with his credit card number on it was stolen from his mailbox. The mail carrier informed the man that the flag was up but there was no mail in the box. The man learned that there had been an attempted purchase using his card number but it didn’t go through because the individual didn’t have the correct expiration date.

A woman whose purse was stolen from a locker at later found it in a bathroom stall, but $4 was missing from her wallet.

Police were called about a power line that caught fire near Valley Creek Road and Century Avenue. By the time officers arrived there was no sparking or fire. Xcel Energy was notified.
