Woodbury Players Compete In All-Star Soccer Games
Woodbury seniors Nelson and Tredesch play in the girls game, while Sampson plays in the boys contest Wednesday in the annual Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association Senior Classic in the Metrodome
Three Woodbury soccer players—two girls and one boy—competed in the annual Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association Senior Classic Wednesday night in the Metrodome in Minneapolis.
Seniors Maddie Trebesch and Maddie Nelson played for the girls green team, which tied the red team 2-all. Both Woodbury players will play soccer for Creighton University next fall.
Trebesch was named the green's team top defensive player of the game.

Ben Sampson played for the boys red team, which scored a wild 6-4 victory after being tied 1-all at the half.
“It was kind of interesting because our midfield just left us behind, so it turned out being like 7-against-3 in the back,” said Sampson. “I think that was a game more for the fans.”

Sampson was selected one of two players of the game for the green team.
“This was definitely a lot more relaxed than the regular season,” Sampson added. “Because in the season you’re pushed to try and win games and get through sections, but this was just for fun for the seniors.”
The game features the top 44 senior high school boys soccer players and top 44 girls soccer players in Minnesota each year.
