Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. A woman is dead after driving into a tow truck on Interstate 494. The fatal crash took place shortly before 6:00 a.m. Monday morning.An International Tow truck was responding to a previous crash on I-494 when the incident occurred. The tow truck was stopped on the left shoulder of the freeway when a Honda CRV struck the right rear of the truck, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The driver of the Honda, Lynn Stackpole, 53, of Woodbury, died. The tow truck driver, James Bennett, 51, of South St. Paul, suffered no apparent injuries in the crash.The State Patrol reminds motorists to slow down in winter conditions and move over for flashing lights.
