Woodbury Leadership Academy (WLA) is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school where high expectations and success matter to all! Our learning environment and school community promotes academic achievement for students in grades K-12, as well as personal integrity, equity and a dedication to value and serve others. Our school is committed to our students’ long term success. We use inquiry based learning by teaching the Core Knowledge Curriculum — building strong skills in math, reading, writing, history, science and technology. We also have a strong character education program to ensure students develop exceptional leadership skills. The character education program includes service learning projects and a focus of five core virtues - respect, responsibility, perseverance, gratitude and humanity. WLA uses the rigorous and classical Core Knowledge Curriculum to build strong foundational knowledge across subjects, promoting academic excellence and equity. By ensuring all students share common knowledge, we can narrow achievement gaps and build critical thinking and long-term success. Woodbury police were called to a home at the 2700 block of Robinwood Way on Feb. 11 after a man found two Japanese fragment grenades in his father-in-law's basement. The man found the grenades among a cache of other World War II trophies, according to a police report, which also states that the grenades were manufactured from 1937-1945. One was a TNT grenade and the other was a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picric_acid" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">2,4,6-trinitrophenol (picric acid)</a> grenade. The family posed for pictures with the grenades, which were later placed in the driveway in front of the home, according to the report. The St. Paul bomb squad was called and took possession of the grenades.
