World War II Grenades Found At Woodbury Home

The St. Paul bomb squad was called in to handle the situation.

Woodbury police were called to a home at the 2700 block of Robinwood Way on Feb. 11 after a man found two Japanese fragment grenades in his father-in-law’s basement.

The man found the grenades among a cache of other World War II trophies, according to a police report, which also states that the grenades were manufactured from 1937-1945. One was a TNT grenade and the other was a 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (picric acid) grenade.

The family posed for pictures with the grenades, which were later placed in the driveway in front of the home, according to the report.
