Today's riddle: What do you call a belt that is made of watches? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. City of Worthington looks to purchase former Wells Fargo building (dglobe.com) — Worthington officials are moving toward buying the former Wells Fargo building for a new city hall, aiming for better public access, security, and staff workflow. The council also set a maximum 2026 tax levy, advanced street and boat landing projects, renewed insurance and ice arena agreements, and approved a MnDOT partnership for major U.S. 59 reconstruction affecting key city routes.
2. Kivu Immigration Law continues important work in southwest Minnesota (dglobe.com) — Worthington residents now have a fast-growing, homegrown immigration law firm dedicated to serving local families, workers, and youth. Kivu Immigration Law has expanded staff, moved into a larger 10th Street office, and launched internships and youth programs that train future immigration advocates while helping community members navigate green cards, citizenship, and changing federal policies.
3. Council hosts public hearings for multiple street improvement projects (myradioworks.net) — Worthington homeowners may soon see assessments tied to several street improvement projects and unpaid city charges after the council held five public hearings and approved related resolutions. Councilors also renewed a one-year agreement with District 518 for use of the Worthington Ice Arena, setting responsibilities and a $115-per-hour ice time rate for school hockey activities.
4. TUESDAY SOCCER: Historic win for Wings girls, boys fall to Trojans (windomnews.com) — Worthington soccer fans saw mixed results Tuesday, with the girls falling 4-1 at Windom to a surging Wings United squad, while the Trojan boys dominated 10-1 at home. The boys unleashed 51 shot attempts and allowed just one goal, continuing to build their scoring confidence heading into upcoming matches.
5. Yields, input costs push and pull on preharvest farmland market (farmprogress.com) — Farmland values remain strong across Minnesota, with a recent sale just north of Worthington topping $15,700 per acre for high-quality ground. Lower-than-expected national yields, solid Minnesota crop prospects, and rising input costs are all shaping what local landowners and farmers can expect if they buy or sell ground this fall.
