• Canton school's funding at risk amid charter limbo (mississippitoday.org) — Families in Canton should know that SR1 College Preparatory and STEM Academy's charter — and some of its funding — are at risk as state officials weigh whether to revoke its charter. A key legal recommendation due soon will influence if SR1 becomes Mississippi's first forced charter closure, potentially limiting access to federal grant money and affecting students' resources this school year.
   

• Canton Stays Perfect With Win Over Holmes County Central (cantonnews.net) — Canton football fans can celebrate as the Tigers improved to 5-0 after a 42-20 road win over Holmes County Central, already surpassing last season's total victories. The team now gets a week off before hosting Callaway on Oct. 9 in its first Class 6A Region 2 matchup, setting up a big home crowd opportunity.
