• Two suffer life-threatening injuries after head-on collision on Mississippi rural road (magnoliastatelive.com) — Two men were critically injured in a head-on collision on Moselle-Seminary Road and were rushed to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg for emergency care. Jones County volunteer firefighters and EMS crews freed them from the wrecked Kia, while the pickup driver suffered only a minor hand injury and sought his own treatment.
   

• Malinda Gale Sharkey (kogt.com) — Family and friends are mourning Malinda Gale Sharkey, who was born in Hattiesburg in 1949 and passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026. Loved as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is remembered for her kindness, easy laugh, and deep commitment to family.
