• Former Youth Pastor Lindsey Whiteside Pleads Guilty to Federal Sex Crime Involving Minor (churchleaders.com) — A former youth pastor who once worked at Getwell Church's Hernando campus has now pleaded guilty to a federal charge tied to sexually abusing a minor from the church's youth group. The plea follows earlier state charges and a controversial sentence that drew strong criticism from DeSoto County's district attorney and community members, who continue pushing for tougher consequences.
   

• $44M Grant to Widen I-55 in DeSoto County to 10 Lanes (desotocountynews.com) — Drivers from Hernando heading toward Southaven and Memphis could eventually see less gridlock thanks to a new $44 million federal grant to widen I-55/I-69 from Church Road to north of Goodman Road. The project will add lanes and improve interchanges to handle growth from Hernando and neighboring cities, with construction timelines and lane-closure details still to come.
