Here are the top stories in Jackson today:

  1. Over a dozen children were adopted in Hinds County ahead of Christmas. The Mississippi College School of Law hosted "Home for the Holidays Mass Adoption Celebration" after having worked all semester on the children's cases. They wanted to be able to give these children a permanent family for Christmas. (WJTV)
  2. After two months of requiring proof of vaccination, 91% of Jackson city employees have been vaccinated against COVID-19. The mayor is urging citizens to do the same and to continue to wear masks.The remaining 9% of city employees' failure to abide by the mandate could have "harsher penalties," said Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba.   3. Two quilts honor victims of racial violence, and they are open for public viewing on weekdays until Dec. 17 at Jackson State University's Margaret Walker Center. (Jackson Free Press)
  4. Six people were injured after a shootout at a Hinds County sports bar over the weekend. (WAPT Jackson)
  5. Three people were killed in a Bratton Street shooting, according to Jackson police. (WAPT Jackson)
