🌱 $150M Jackson Tech District + JPD Receives $500K For Hiring

Here are the top stories today in Jackson:
- A planned Jackson Tech District is now a $150M project. Started by Dr. Nashlie Sephus, the project initially was $25M, but after making a case before the Jackson City Council, the city provided additional funding. (WLBT)
- The Jackson Police Department will receive $500K in order to get more officers. The award was given by the Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Hiring Program. The money will be used to hire additional officers to fight the onslaught of violent crimes in the city. (WLBT)
- Girl scout troops around Jackson collected over 1,700 canned goods during their food drive and the donations were added to the Stewpot Pantry. (WAPT Jackson)
- Jackson law enforcement is working to reopen Jackson detention center as a jail to hold misdemeanor offenders. (WAPT Jackson)
- Hinds County leaders held a graduation ceremony for the Reentry Program, where more than a dozen people graduated from the first phase and will enter job training in the next. (WJTV)
