🌱$2 Tuesdays At Jackson Zoo + Free Uniform Bottoms For JPS

Hey, neighbors! Kayla Harrison here with the latest issue of the Jackson Daily.


First, today's weather:

Plenty of sunshine. High: 56 Low: 35.


Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:

  1. The Jackson Zoo will start selling $2 tickets in the new year. Every Tuesday, starting on Jan. 4 2022, the zoo will host "$2 Tuesdays." The tickets can be purchased for another over the age of 2, and they will be available for purchase on Jan. 3. (WJTV)
  2. Hundreds of free uniform bottoms are available for Jackson Public Schools students. More than 900 pairs of pants, shorts and skirts were donated from the Junior League of Jackson. They will be distributed through the Partners in Education Program. (Free: Yahoo! Finance, Subscription: Clarion Ledger)
  3. A non-profit agency in Jackson is bringing Christmas to seniors who are living alone. The Good Samaritan Center will be delivering presents to seniors in the Delhaven and Golden Key Apartments. About 200 donors were 'Secret Santa' and provided the presents that will go out this week. (WDAM)

  • Jackson State University received a $150K endowment from the foundation of The P3 Group, Inc., which is the largest African American-owned real-estate development firm in the U.S. The Sonic Boom of The South also received a $10K gift. (Facebook)
  • The Jackson Police Department participated in "Shop with a Cop" at Walmart on MS Highway 18 on Tuesday. They send out their thanks to Walmart, The Jackson Police Department Command Staff, their Police Chaplains, and most importantly the children that participated in this event. (Facebook)
  • The Mississippi School of the Arts will be having a Connect Event at the Mississippi Grammy Museum in Cleveland on Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m. At the event, there will be an opportunity to learn more about the Mississippi School of the Arts and tour the museum. (Instagram)
