Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:
- Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves has vetoed a budget bill that would allocate $50 million for the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The funds would have been used to improve the center's adult hospital in Jackson. The money was to come from the state's pandemic recovery fund received from the federal government. (WAPT Jackson)
- A missing Jackson State student has been found safe in Virginia. Kamilah Fipps was located in Richmond, Virginia and has been reunited with her family. The Jackson State University Police Chief recognizes the support given by the Richmond Police Department during the investigation. (WJTV)
- Richard's Disposal has entered into a one-year contract with Hawkins Field for $69,380.50. The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority owns and operates Hawkins Field and the connecting apron. Richard's Disposal will have to move from the space if an aeronautical user wants to use the space. (WLBT)
