Motorcyclist struck by two cars in intersection (fox40jackson.com) β A motorcyclist was hospitalized but conscious and stable after colliding with one car and then being hit by another Saturday afternoon at Northside Drive and Manila Drive in Jackson. Capitol Police and state officials say the crash happened as a vehicle turned in front of the eastbound motorcycle, and details on any charges or further injuries have not yet been released.

Jackson man faces charges after multiple carjackings (wjtv.com) β Law enforcement say a Jackson man is facing high bonds and multiple charges after a string of carjackings that began near Jackson State University and continued into Vicksburg and Warren County. Investigators report several stolen vehicles, a crash on I-20, and at least one injured suspect, with another teen suspect still wanted in connection with the incidents.

Fashion model from Mobile identified in National Gallery of Art photo (fox10tv.com) β An acclaimed photography exhibit from the Black Arts Movement has brought a long-unidentified Mobile fashion model's portrait to the Mississippi Museum of Art in downtown Jackson, where it's now properly credited. Local visitors can see her image featured prominently throughout the city and in the show, "Photography and the Black Arts Movement, 1955β1985," on display through Nov. 8.

Trump ordered to release billions in climate grants meant for Black communities (grist.org) β Billions in frozen federal climate and environmental justice grants, including $20 million for a resilience hub in Jackson's poorest neighborhoods, may finally be released after recent court rulings. The funding could support backup power, clean water, and shelter during crises, alongside broader solar and clean-energy investments across Mississippi and other states that prioritize disadvantaged communities.
