• Local group launches new community patrol initiative in Jackson (wapt.com) — A new "10,000 Fearless Patrol Group" is launching in Jackson to train residents alongside local law enforcement in CPR, active-shooter response, and community conflict resolution. At a North Farish Street town hall, neighbors voiced concerns about crime, slow 911 responses, and youth violence, while organizers outlined a six‑month evaluation to see if the patrols reduce violence and improve safety in Jackson neighborhoods.
• Jackson hydrant keeps flooding street, business says (wapt.com) — A fire hydrant on a Jackson street has been gushing water since Saturday, worsening a months-long leak and making it hard for a local towing business, its drivers, and customers to reach the road. The owner says calls to both JXN Water and the Jackson Fire Department led to each agency pointing to the other, and as of the latest visit by 16 WAPT, water was still pouring into the street.
• Jeanne Louise Cotting (northsidesun.com) — Friends and former neighbors in Jackson are remembering Jeanne Louise Cotting, a longtime resident who grew up, raised her family, and stayed deeply involved in church and civic life here before moving to be near grandchildren. She is recalled for her overflowing gardens, boundless friendliness, devotion to family, and continued participation in Jackson organizations even after relocating, with memorial donations requested to churches in Madison and Utah.
