Thacker Mountain Radio and the National Folk Festival Announce Second Annual Collaboration (northsidesun.com) — Jackson will host the 83rd National Folk Festival downtown November 13–15, with Thacker Mountain Radio kicking things off November 12 at Hal and Mal's. Shaq's Big Chicken opens in Jackson (wapt.com) — Students and neighbors around Jackson State University are getting a new lunch spot as Shaq's Big Chicken opens in the JSU Student Center Legacy Food Court, replacing the former Chick-fil-A. Open to the public as well as students, this first-in-Mississippi location offers chicken sandwiches, wings, salads, sides and milkshakes, with leaders hoping it becomes a fresh campus favorite.
3. Study ranks Gulfport, Jackson junctions among Mississippi motorcycle riders' most feared (darkhorsepressnow.com) — Motorcyclists across Mississippi singled out the intersection of Northside Drive and Manila Drive in Jackson as one of the state's most feared junctions, alongside a busy Gulfport crossing. A national survey of more than 3,300 riders cites visibility issues, turning conflicts, and frequent near misses, while most respondents say they alter routes and want public safety ratings for dangerous intersections.
4. C Spire will build a high-capacity Mississippi to Memphis fiber route (bbcmag.com) — Residents in Jackson can expect a major boost to digital connectivity as C Spire plans a 200-mile, high-capacity fiber corridor linking the capital to Olive Branch and the greater Memphis hub.
