The shakeup follows the departures of senior officials Pieter Teeuwissen and Pam Junior, with no timeline yet for permanent appointments but assurances of continued progress on city priorities.

3. Mississippi State Fair Returns with 'Let Freedom Ring' Theme and New 'Biscuit Brisket' (wlbt.com) — Jackson residents can get ready for 12 days of rides, concerts, livestock shows, and new fair food as the 167th Mississippi State Fair opens in the capital city with a "Let Freedom Ring" theme. Alongside big-name entertainment, food lovers can try the new "Biscuit Brisket" at the iconic Biscuit Booth and explore exhibits, crafts, and family activities across the fairgrounds.
   

4. MDHS opens new Jackson LIFT resource and referral center (wjtv.com) — Families in Jackson can now visit the new MS LIFT Resource and Referral Center on Briarwood Drive for free educational toys, books, and classroom materials for children up to age 12. The flagship facility offers lending libraries, classrooms, play areas, and a creative "make and take" station, and also connects parents to additional support services across Mississippi.
   

5. Congressman Thompson Responds to Liquidation of Jackson Area Federal Credit Union (house.gov) — If you banked with Jackson Area Federal Credit Union, your accounts have been moved to Five Star Credit Union after federal regulators liquidated the longtime local institution. Congressman Bennie Thompson says deposits remain federally insured and promises continued oversight to ensure a transparent, orderly transition for Jackson and Hinds County members.
