1. A potential buyer is interested in Chapel Ridge. But is it the right plan for Jackson? (wlbt.com) — City officials in Jackson are weighing whether to approve a potential buyer's phased plan to rehab the troubled Chapel Ridge Apartments on Raymond Road, which a judge recently ordered demolished. With the complex vacant and repeatedly hit by fires, planning leaders say they prefer a full, all-at-once restoration and want firm timelines before allowing any redevelopment that could affect nearby residents' safety.

2. MDOT Plans Anti-Climb Fencing on I-55 Overpasses to Curb Pedestrian Hazards (memesita.com) — State transportation officials plan to add anti-climb fencing to I-55 overpasses across Jackson by 2027, aiming to cut frequent pedestrian accidents and reduce encampments under bridges. A test section at Northside Drive is already in place to study durability. Expect construction to run from spring to fall 2027, with MDOT emphasizing both public safety and protection of key bridge infrastructure.

3. Car crash into Jackson apartment sparks improvement plans (wapt.com) — After a car slammed into an apartment at Ludlow Avenue and Crawford Street in Jackson on September 28, residents and Councilman Kenneth Stokes are pushing for long-promised safety upgrades. They want the intersection converted to a four-way stop and are calling for speed bumps and a community meeting with Public Works and Jackson Police to prevent another frightening crash into nearby homes.

4. What's the progress on $6 billion Brandon data center? (clarionledger.com) — A planned $6 billion AVAIO Digital data center in Brandon, just a few miles from Jackson's airport, is showing little visible construction more than a year after its groundbreaking announcement. Despite cleared land and some equipment on-site, outside observers say progress appears slow even as the company maintains a 2027 completion target. The project is one of two major data centers slated for the Jackson metro area, backed by state and local incentives.

5. Bobby Rush Musical 'Slippin' Through the Cracks' Announces Cast Ahead of Jackson Premiere (newyorktrendnyc.com) — A new Bobby Rush musical is set to debut at New Stage Theatre in Jackson later this month, giving locals a chance to see the blues legend's life story on stage.
