Here are the top stories in Jackson today:
- Brandon Elementary was recognized nationally as an extraordinary school in Rankin County. It was deemed a national Blue Ribbon school for closing the achievement gap between groups of children who underperform their peers. (Clarksdale Press Register)
- A Jackson family is hosting a toy drive in honor of their daughter who was lost to gun violence. They developed Angel Kays Toy Drive to center around children who have lost parents or loved ones due to gun violence, and they want to make sure those children have a great Christmas. (WJTV)
- Jackson city leaders have approved pay hikes for water system workers, which will be implemented by the end of 2021. (Jackson Free Press)
