Although I have loved getting to know this community, we want to pass the torch to someone truly local to write about Jackson long term. So if you're interested in earning extra income while making this newsletter a more valuable resource for your neighbors, learn more and apply here.
First, today's weather:
Mostly sunny. High: 67 Low: 44.
Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:
- The first analytical cannabis testing laboratory in Mississippi to begin the accreditation process is Jackson-based Steep Hill Mississippi. The process will be conducted by Perry Johnson Laboratory Accreditation, which is a third-party accreditation body that verifies a lab's ability to test and produce reliable data. Governor Reeves signed the state's medical marijuana law in February. (WAPT Jackson)
- A neighborhood clean-up event is being hosted by the City of Jackson on Friday. The clean-up begins at the Cash Savers parking lot at 7:30 a.m. The city is encouraging anyone to attend and to bring a team to help remove garbage and debris from the community. Efforts will be focused on Siwell Road, Raymond Road, Maddox Road, and Chadwick Drive. (WJTV)
- Neighbors in the Broadmoor community have not seen garbage collection since Mar. 31, according to community members. The city's garbage collection contract is currently being disputed. According to the Broadmoor community, the issue is more of a safety concern since it is trash. (WJTV)
