Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:
- On Monday, Waste Management of Mississippi, Inc. filed a motion to dismiss the case it brought against Jackson Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba and the City of Jackson. The company accused the mayor of creating his own emergency to bypass state law and the council's approval of a garbage contract in the original complaint. The city's current contract with Waste Management expires on Apr. 1, 2022. (WJTV)
- A Saucier mother has been charged with aggravated DUI after crashing into the Clarion Ledger building, killing her 7-year-old daughter. Kathryn Blankenship, 27, is currently being held at the Hinds County Detention Center and has been given a $100,000 bond. The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Saturday on Pearl and West streets, according to Deputy Chief Deric Hearn. (WAPT Jackson)
- In a partnership between Brown Bottling Group and the Jobs for Jacksonians program, a job fair will be held at the Metrocenter Mall on Thursday, Mar. 17. The job fair will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the conference room of the Department of Human Resources. Participants must wear a face-covering during the job fair at all times. (WJTV)
