Here are the top three stories in Jackson today:
- Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba will be holding a special town hall meeting tonight at Pearl AME Church. The town hall is to discuss the city's current garbage collection process. All residents are encouraged to attend the event that starts at 6:00 p.m. Those that can't attend in-person can watch through a live stream on the city's Facebook page. (Press Release Desk)
- Jackson's Pearl Street AME Church is developing a complex to provide the community with affordable housing and health care. The complex will be focused on Jackson's older residents. Pearl Senior Living Community will be built at the site of the old Jackson Southwest Hotel. (Subscription: Clarion Ledger)
- City Councilman Kenneth Stokes is seeking a city misdemeanor jail. The jail's creation would reportedly cost $250,000, according to the councilman. The facility would reportedly be used to hold the city's career misdemeanor offenders while awaiting trial. (WJTV)
